Alfredo da Silva Cunha

Poet. The very popularity he seems to have enjoyed in his birthplace and in Gaia, where he lived, is one of the possible lenses through which his poetry can be read. A wealthy and enterprising businessman and industrialist in the fine tradition of the "Cidade Invicta," he ultimately produced a poetry that, if not strictly full of clichés, is at least close to that practical spirit—even though, by a curious inversion, the author contributed relatively widely to the Porto press under the pen name Zéfiro, surprising for someone known in Gaia as Cunha da Rasa.
