André Baião

Humanist, he studied theology in Coimbra. A grammarian and Latin poet, he taught grammar and rhetoric in various colleges and seminaries in Rome. Author of many published works, he left several others in manuscript. The main highlight goes to his translations of Virgil's Eneida into Greek verse, and his translation of Os Lusíadas into Latin verse, the only one done by a single author.
