Antoine Houdar de la Motte, born in Paris in 1672, was a multifaceted figure in French literature. A law graduate, he soon dedicated himself to letters, successfully writing plays, operas, and poems. His best-known work is "Inès de Castro". He also became a proponent of "Modernism" in his time, questioning the authority of the ancients and proposing a renewal of art. His "Fable" and "Odes" were very popular. He passed away in 1731, leaving a legacy as one of the main representatives of the Enlightenment in his time.
