Bio
An Ultra-Romantic poet with compositions scattered throughout the literary magazines of the period, he was also an appreciated fiction writer; but his short life did not allow him to fulfill the hopes that Camilo, for example, placed in him. His novels, focused on historical and popular themes (as dictated by the European Romantic ideal), are connected to the city of Porto. They are A Rua Escura (1856), Os Tripeiros (1857), and Na Consciência (1857), which is intended as a response to Camilo's title Onde Está a Felicidade? Sampaio Bruno dedicates some bio-bibliographical notes to him in the 1st vol. of his work Portuenses Ilustres, Porto, 1907.
