António Correia Pinto de Almeida, better known by the pseudonym Marco António, was a satirical poet who, having lived through the early days of the Republic, did not fail to parody those who profited from it, as well as those who lost their much-esteemed Monarchy. Marco António's poetry, imbued with humor, sought in the imitation of established figures and in folklore what it lacked in originality.
