António de Cabedo

Sixteenth-century poet; holder of a degree in Canon Law from the University of Coimbra. Author of a type of poetry belonging to the Neo-Latin current of literary humanism, often expressed in Latin, characterized by the adoption of classical models and concerned, in this case, more with the formal elaboration of the compositions than with their content, which was often nothing more than the celebration of occasion-specific events. Part of his work was printed in Rome in 1587, notably a song in praise of Queen Saint Isabel. He was the son of Miguel Cabedo de Vasconcelos.
