Arsène Houssaye (1814-1896) was a French writer and journalist. Born in Bruyères-et-Montbérault, he dedicated himself to literature and criticism, publishing novels, short stories, and essays. He was also the curator of the Musée Carnavalet in Paris, where he played an important role in preserving and promoting the city's historical heritage. His literary work reflects the romantic spirit of the era, with themes exploring history, art, and human passions. Houssaye was socially active and maintained relationships with many leading intellectuals and artists of his time.
