Belchior Manuel Curvo Semedo Torres de Sequeira, known as Curvo Semedo, was a Portuguese poet, professed knight of the Order of Christ, nobleman of the Royal Household, young nobleman of the Prince Regent's chamber, and first lieutenant of the Royal Corps of Engineers. He was one of the most important names of the Nova Arcádia literary movement, which he co-founded in 1790 and in which he used the name <i>Belmiro Transtagano</i>. For many years, he held the position of clerk of the Lisbon Customs House.

Portuguese poet, born in Montemor-o-Novo. A member of «Nova Arcádia», he used the name Belmiro Transtagano in that society. He was a nobleman of the Royal Household, a knight of the Order of Christ, and also a captain in the corps of engineers and clerk of the ports.
Although he was also the author of apologues and dithyrambs, he became famous primarily for his Tradução das Melhores Fábulas de La Fontaine (1820), which includes much personal re-creation. He gained some celebrity for the frequent inclusion of his texts in school anthologies. Known as the «Portuguese La Fontaine», he is also the author of Composições Poéticas (1803-1835) and Ode na Feliz Exaltação ao Sólio Português do Senhor D. Miguel I (1828).
