Cristina Norton

Novelist. Born in Argentina, she came to reside in Portugal over thirty years ago, opting for Portuguese nationality. She studied History of French Civilization at the Sorbonne and attended courses in Fine Arts, Art History, and languages and literature. Her book O Barco de Chocolate, illustrated by Danuta Wojciechowska, won the Adolfo Simões Müller 2002 Prize from the Municipality of Sintra. Since 1966 she has written short stories and chronicles for various magazines (Olá Semanário, Máxima, Pais e Filhos) and newspapers. She worked as a literary reviewer for the weekly Expresso and contributes to the magazine PSI - Psicologia Actual as an interviewer. She has participated in various literary meetings in Portugal and abroad. Since 1998, she has worked in creative writing workshops for children and adolescents, and also gives training courses for teachers and librarians. To mark her 10 years of literary life in Portugal, she was honored in a session at the Porto Literary Club in November 2007.
