Dolores Costa

Popular poet. Unable to study, she achieved mastery of writing after turning fifty years old. For this reason, she memorized hundreds of poems and recently materialized a large part of her poetic wealth, preserved in a prodigious memory she cultivated from an early age, into a book. The most curious thing is that, not knowing how to recite them, she used the subterfuge of intoning them as if they were fados. In 1976, she moved to Portimão, where she took a literacy course and revealed an above-average intelligence. Her poetry is represented in the following collections: Poetas Populares do Alentejo e Algarve, published by Rádio Lagoa; Alameda dos Poetas, published by Rádio Fóia, Poetas Algarvios, published by Inatel, and Poetas de Portimão, printed by the local municipality. She holds several awards obtained in floral games and other literary contests.
