Fernão de Magalhães Gonçalves

Essayist, poet, and fiction writer. He was a secondary school teacher in Murça and Chaves and, in the 1980s, a Portuguese lector in Granada (Spain) and Seoul (South Korea). An essayist with scattered publications since 1961—writing on Trindade Coelho, Régio, Aquilino, Hemingway, Raul de Carvalho, Herberto Helder, Nuno de Montemor, António Arnaut... —, he established himself as a poet, polemicist, and notable scholar of Torga. In Granada, where he had already published a book of poetry, a small lyrical sample was released in a bilingual edition.
