Bio
Born in Poitiers in 1513, Guillaume Bouchet dedicated himself to the study of law and practiced as a lawyer. However, his literary fame comes from 'Les Sérées' (or 'The Afternoons'), first published in 1583. This work, divided into several parts, is an encyclopedic miscellany that includes curious stories, moral reflections, tales, and dialogues, addressing a wide range of themes from daily life, literature, and philosophy. Bouchet sought to entertain and instruct his readers, offering a vivid panorama of Renaissance society. He died in Poitiers in 1597.
