Henri de Régnier was born in Honfleur, France, in 1864. A poet, novelist, and literary critic, he was a central figure of the French Symbolist movement. His poetry is marked by formal elegance, musicality, and an atmosphere of dreams and melancholy. He explored themes such as love, the transience of time, and the beauty of nature. Among his poetic works, "Les Jeux rustiques et divins" (1897) and "Les Varia" (1913) stand out. He also wrote novels, such as "La Pécheresse" (1907), and critical essays. He was elected to the French Academy in 1911, where he held the position of perpetual secretary. He died in Paris in 1935.
