Irene Lucília

Irene Lucília Mendes de Andrade holds a degree in Painting from the Lisbon School of Fine Arts and is a Visual Arts teacher. She developed multiple activities as a radio producer and author of texts for children; she participated in several pictorial and poetic exhibitions in Madeira and the Azores – notably the 3rd. Exposição de Poesia Ilustrada, in Funchal, and the Poesia na Ilha show, at the Biblioteca Nacional, 1991 – as well as in the anthologies Ilha 2 (1979), Ilha 3 (1991) and Ilha 4 (1994) and Musa Insular (1960), O Natal na Voz dos Poetas Madeirenses (1989), Madeira, Paisagem e Memória ao Sabor do Mar (1989), Poet'Arte 90 (1990), Narrativa Literária de Autores da Madeira: Século XX (1990), Duplo Olhar (1997) and Narrativas Contemporâneas da Madeira (1997). An effective contributor to the children's newspaper A Canoa, she has other scattered contributions in newspapers and magazines. She uses the pseudonym Ilma.
