James Stephens (1882-1950) was an Irish novelist and poet. Born in Dublin, he was a significant figure in the Irish Literary Renaissance. His best-known work is "The Crock of Gold" (1912), a fantasy that blends Celtic mythology, philosophy, and social satire. Other notable works include "The Charwoman's Daughter" (1912) and "Deirdre" (1923). He was also an active member of the Irish nationalist movement and served as the honorary secretary of the Irish Academy.
