Joaquim Pinto Ribeiro Júnior

An ultra-romantic writer and poet, his poetry was widely recited at Porto's soirées. Camilo Castelo Branco dedicated a chapter to him in his work Esboços de Apreciações Literárias, in which he recognized him as a true poet, capable of revealing man «in the amplitude of all his passions». He exchanged poetry for commerce and settled in Lisbon.
