Joaquim Guilherme Gomes Correia, better known by the pseudonym Júlio Dinis, was a Portuguese doctor and writer. He is considered one of the main representatives of Realism in Portuguese literature, with works that portray the society and customs of the time.

Júlio Dinis was born in Porto. He graduated in medicine from the University of Coimbra, where he began his literary career with the novel 'As Pupilas do Senhor Reitor'. His most famous work, 'Uma Família Inglesa', is a critical and detailed portrait of the Lisbon bourgeoisie. Dinis also wrote short stories, chronicles, and plays. His writing is marked by humor, psychological observation, and clear and elegant language. He died in Porto, victim of tuberculosis.
