Lígia Toledano Esaguy

Writer, poet, lecturer, journalist, violinist, and reciter. Daughter of Leão Augusto Esaguy and sister of the pianist, composer, and writer Simy Toledano Esaguy, whose poems she recited at the age of ten, she married in 1949 and moved to Porto. She debuted as a poet in 1942 with the book of poems Ele, dedicated to her father, followed by other books of poetry, short stories, novels, theater, and children's literature. Matos Sequeira states in the preface to Ele that her poems are «coloridos, simples, rescendentes de naturalidade» (colorful, simple, redolent of naturalness).
