Lúcio Ácio, also known as Lucius Accius, was a significant literary figure in Rome. Although we only have fragments of his numerous plays, testimony from later writers indicates that he was one of the greatest tragic poets of his time. His tragedies often adapted Greek myths, but also addressed Roman historical themes. Ácio was known for his elevated style and the richness of his vocabulary. In addition to his dramatic work, he also produced treatises on grammar and literary criticism, demonstrating a remarkable intellectual breadth.
