Manuel Matias Vieira Fialho de Mendonça

He went to Brazil at a very young age, where his father served in the judiciary. He graduated in Law in Coimbra and established himself as a lawyer in Santarém. In 1810, during the invasion by Massena's armies, he hastily left the city, losing his library and many of his manuscripts. He lived in Lisbon and Coimbra, where he died at only 33 years of age. In addition to being a poet, he translated works from Latin and French, leaving a Dicionário Jurídico nearly completed.
