Maria Alexandrina dos Santos Teixeira

Poet, journalist, art critic, and biographer of Florbela Espanca. She began her literary activity at the age of twelve, writing for the children's page of the newspaper O Primeiro de Janeiro. She collaborated with several other newspapers and magazines, including Notícias de Guimarães, O Comércio do Porto, and Revista Feminina. Under the pseudonym Alex, she published several books of poetry, among them Castro Alves (1970), with which she was awarded at the V Brazilian Literature Festival of the Teresopolitana Academy of Letters. In 1973, with the poem «Poème pour un Jour de Solitude», she received two gold medals from the International Academy of Lutèce (France). In 1975, she was included in the collection Poesia do Mundo, Passage, published by Triton College, Illinois, USA, with the poem «Alleluiah». In 1979, she was again honored for the play «Bola de Neve».
