Miranda de Andrade

Professor and essayist. He attended the degree course in Historical-Geographical Sciences at the Faculty of Letters of Porto, where he graduated in Romance Philology with the thesis «Camões e o Platonismo» (1926). He complemented his education with a course at the Escola Normal Superior de Lisboa to pursue a career as a high school teacher. A contributor to the magazine Ocidente, he focused on the work and personality of António Feijó, Eça de Queirós, and the poet António Fogaça, among others. A large part of his work is published as offprints from the magazines Ocidente, Labor, Boletim da Biblioteca Pública Municipal de Matosinhos, Boletim da Câmara Municipal do Porto, Barcellos, and Revista de História. He also contributed to the magazine Quatro Ventos and the newspapers O Comércio do Porto, Diário Ilustrado, and Comércio do Minho. He was director of Correio do Minho from 1946 to 1949. He coordinated and prefaced the work of Luís de Magalhães, Campo Santo: Artigos Críticos sobre as Mais Notáveis Figuras Literárias e Políticas dos Séculos XIX e XX, em Portugal, 1971.
