Army Colonel and publicist. Son of a respected military bourgeois family, the path of his ancestors was set for him early on at the Academia Militar, where he completed the General Staff and High Command courses. He carried out military service assignments in the United States of America, the Azores, and twice in Angola, serving as commander of the Cuanza Sul sector as a senior colonel when April 25 occurred. Shortly thereafter, he transferred to the reserves with the rank of Colonel of the General Staff, having time from then on to return to his studies. In 1977, he enrolled in the Sociology program at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, graduating with high marks in 1980. He also attended a Master's program in Art, which he did not complete, going on to dedicate himself to life drawing and painting classes at AR-CO in Lisbon. He participated in several collective painting exhibitions and has recently dedicated himself to teaching Art and Music History at the Academia de Cultura e Cooperação of the União das Misericórdias in Lisbon. As a playwright, he had a brief experience, authoring the plays «A Esfera Facetada», staged in 1964 at the Teatro Nacional by the Companhia de Amélia Rey Colaço, and «A Encomenda», broadcast on RTP in 1971. His literary talent and artistic aptitude have been spread across various cultural outreach and social solidarity initiatives, with particular highlight on the numerous lectures he has delivered on classical sculpture and Renaissance painting. He was president of the Federação das Instituições da 3ª. Idade from 1987 to 1993, and vice-president of the General Assembly of the Associação Portuguesa de Poetas.
