Pe. Luís Calisto da Costa de Faria

Poet and composer, he was ordained in 1724, having been abbot of Santa Comba de Eiras and São Pedro de Ruivães. He organized various literary-musical manifestations for the court of D. João V which, following traditional villancicos, can be considered the first announcements of a Portuguese opera, in the style of Italian melodramas, and wrote in Castilian the comedy Son Triunfo de Amor los Zelos, performed in 1712. He left, in manuscript, other comedies, a Poema Heróico da Conquista de Ceuta, and Poesias Heróicas e Líricas.
