Ballad
From Old French balade: dancing song. The literary ballad was revived by the Romantics (Coleridge's Rime, Keats' La Belle Dame sans Merci).
Definition
A narrative poem, often of folk origin, typically with short stanzas and a refrain and intended for singing.
