Sebastião Pires

Sixteenth-century dramatic poet, credited with a charming auto of romance inspiration, the Auto da Bela Menina, printed in the mid-16th century as a broadsheet, and an auto on a religious theme based on the life of Saint Alexis, prior to 1539, whose text has been lost. Two other works printed in 1557 are attributed to him: A Nau do Filho de Deus and the eclogue Silvério.
