Teresa Balté

Born in Lisbon in 1942, Teresa Balté has an eclectic background (Philosophy, Germanic Philology, and Pedagogical Sciences) which also encompasses the artistic fields of Music, Painting, and Literature. Since 1962, she has published books of poetry for adults and texts aimed at children. Notable works intended for the latter include A abelha Zulmira and O país azul, in addition to other productions published in periodicals or read on television as part of children's programs. Broadly speaking, the Author's work—an instance of the effective presence of the literary—takes as its motif the learning journeys of one or more characters, while also recreating the imagery and processes of oral tradition texts against the backdrop of the historical context in which it is produced—as seen, with particular quality, in O país azul, to which the Author also imparts a certain allegorical dimension.
