Bio
Tristan Corbière (1845-1875) was a French symbolist poet, whose work, largely unknown during his lifetime, was later rediscovered and celebrated. His only book of poems, "Les Amours Jaunes" (The Yellow Loves), was published in 1873, two years before his death. The work reflects a modern sensibility, with formal and thematic experiments that anticipate later literary movements. Corbière was known for his melancholic temperament and fragile health, factors that influenced his worldview and his poetic production. He lived much of his life in Brittany, a land that inspires many of his compositions.
