Vítor Falcão

A writer and journalist who began as an editor for Ilustração Popular in 1907, later becoming an editor and secretary for Machado dos Santos's newspaper O Intransigente. He was part of the editorial staff of Capital and, in 1913, was a correspondent for Século in Madrid. During the Great War, he worked as a journalist in France for Portuguese and Brazilian newspapers. In 1920, he directed Revista Portuguesa and later worked for Diário da Tarde. He also collaborated with Diário de Lisboa. Residing in Brussels from 1928, he collaborated with Diário de Notícias and O Comércio do Porto. He also contributed to Ilustração, Magazine Bertrand, ABC, and Domingo Ilustrado. In 1935, he directed the Portuguese section at the Brussels International Exhibition and also directed the Institute of Portuguese Culture in that city. In the last phase of his life, already retired, he settled in Ericeira, continuing to work on his literary chronicles. Of Revista Portuguesa, which he founded in the 1920s, there is a recent facsimile edition, due to its importance for the study of the 1920s; it includes (n°.s 23-24) an interview by Fernando Pessoa with the poet António Alves Martins (1894-1929).
