René Descartes
René Descartes was a French philosopher, mathematician, and scientist, born in Descartes, France. Widely regarded as the father of modern philosophy, his work laid the groundwork for rationalism. He is famous for the statement 'Cogito, ergo sum' (I think, therefore I am).
