Charles Van Lerberghe was born in Ghent, Belgium. He graduated in Law, but dedicated his life to poetry. He was one of the founders of the literary magazine 'La Wallonie'. His poetic work, although relatively scarce, is highly esteemed for its lyrical beauty and its exploration of themes such as childhood, innocence, and transcendence.
