Erica Jong was born in New York. She graduated from Barnard College and obtained a master's degree in English literature from Columbia University. She began her career writing poetry, publishing her first book of poems, "Fruits & Vegetables", in 1971. Her debut novel, "Fear of Flying", was a bestseller and catapulted her to fame, making her an icon of the second wave of feminism. Jong continued to write novels, including "How to Save Your Own Life", "The Golden Fleece", and "Witches". In addition to fiction, she has also written essays, memoirs, and children's books.
