Friedrich Hebbel was born in Wesselburen, Schleswig-Holstein, on March 18, 1813. He is widely recognized for his tragic plays, which explore moral and psychological conflicts with great intensity. Hebbel believed that human destiny was shaped by historical and ethical forces, and his works often portray individuals in conflict with society and themselves. Some of his most famous plays include "Maria Magdalena" (1844), "Agnes Bernauer" (1855), and "Die Nibelungen" (1861). In addition to his theatrical work, Hebbel also wrote poetry and prose.
