Merícia de Lemos

Poet, she lived in Lisbon and Paris, where she settled from the 1950s onwards. She attended the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon and the École du Louvre in Paris. She collaborated in various magazines (Seara Nova, Cadernos de Poesia, Variante, Litoral, etc.). Her books—some illustrated by renowned painters: Vieira da Silva, Cícero Dias, António Dacosta—reveal a poetry in which a tone of femininity comes to the fore, accompanied by a certain melancholy or a delicately expressed ambiguous fantasy. She was included in Líricas Portuguesas, 3rd series, organized by Jorge de Sena, 1958.
