Dissonance
From Latin dissonantia: disagreement of sounds. The systematic use of dissonance as an expressive device was theorised by Ezra Pound and practised by Wilfred Owen (pararhyme).
Definition
The deliberate combination of clashing, harsh sounds to convey discord, pain, tension, or moral corruption.
