Theodor Körner (1791-1813) was a German poet and nationalist, born in Dresden, Electorate of Saxony. His short but intense life was marked by his patriotic fervor and his desire to free Germany from Napoleonic rule. After studying law and philosophy, he enlisted in the Prussian army in 1813 and actively participated in military campaigns. Körner wrote inflammatory poems and war songs, such as "Lützows wilde Jagd" (Lützow's Wild Hunt), which became anthems of resistance and inspired many of his countrymen. He was killed in combat near Gadebusch on August 26, 1813, at the age of 22. His posthumous work "Gedichte" (Poems) was published by his father and achieved great success, solidifying his image as a romantic hero and a martyr of the German cause.
