Bio
Titus Livius was born in 59 BC, in Padua (Patavium), in Cisalpine Gaul. He is considered one of the greatest Roman historians. His main work, "Ab Urbe Condita Libri", was a comprehensive history of Rome in 142 books, of which only 35 have survived. Livy dedicated a large part of his life to this work, which aimed to glorify Rome and its heroes, emphasizing morality and civic virtues. Although his approach is often more literary and rhetorical than strictly analytical, his work is indispensable for understanding the history, politics, and culture of Republican Rome and the early Empire. He also wrote other works, but few of them have survived. Titus Livius died in 17 AD, in his hometown.
