Gonçalo M. Tavares (born in 1970) is one of the most prominent and recognized Portuguese writers of today. Born in Luanda, Angola, he moved to Portugal in childhood. His literary work is vast and diverse, including novels, short stories, poetry, and essays, which has earned him numerous awards and translations in several countries. Tavares is particularly known for his epic cycle "O Reino" (The Kingdom), which explores the construction and functioning of an imaginary state, and for his series on "Anatomia" (Anatomy), which investigates different aspects of the human body and mind through precise and innovative language. His writing is characterized by intelligence, the intersection between literature and philosophy, and a constant search for new ways of narrating. Besides his literary career, Gonçalo M. Tavares has a strong connection to the academic world, dedicating himself to teaching and research in communication and philosophy. He lives and works in Lisbon.
